Riff & Swanz Launched Their First Collaborative Album Under Control

On the midnight of 1 January 2020, Riff & Swanz finally launched their first full-length collaborative studio album, Under Control with a total of 21 songs and this time featuring several Bruneian artists including Don Jib, Nigh, ASMAI, Nadia, Nuuz0l, Supahmiyagi & Tachiko Mung in the album.

This stands out as one of the most anticipated Brunei-made projects in 2020. Riff & Swanz returns with 17 new songs and 4 previously released singles, inviting a cast of A-list collaborators. These include anthems such as “Milikku” [feat. Don Jib], “Handle It” [feat. Nigh and ASMAI], “All Night” [feat. Nadia] and “White Lies” [feat. Eyeda]. The entire album production was sonically engineered by Swanz. Not to mention, acclaimed video producers Kerazy and Mancientry helmed the music videos for “Tak Peduli” and “Segalanya” respectively. In other big news, Swanz recently rebranded his own production and music management company Beats & Caffeine which is also in a firm partnership with a visual production company AMOF founded by none other than Mancientry.
Riff & Swanz kick-started 2020 with a few singles following up to the release of Under Control. Since the release, the single Segalanya has surpassed over 18k streams on Spotify and has been on Pop Terkini editorial playlist. Audiences from Brunei and Malaysia have clamoured for a full-length project and Riff & Swanz delivered with nothing but hits from Under Control.

ABOUT RIFF & SWANZ:
These two artists have always started off as solo artists before they agreed upon a collaboration late in 2019. Riff started off his music career in 2016 with consistent collaborations with several Brunei artists on Hip Hop and R&B tracks that incorporate dark Trap elements. Some notable songs were “Alive” [feat. Nxntendo] and “Back Off” [feat. 24Rses]. Swanz, on the other hand, initiated his music journey with the consistent release of three mixtapes with no features all throughout 2017. A few significant collaboration tracks that he had made beyond the mixtapes were “No Clue” [feat. Quai] and “Onana” [feat. Yonny]. Both Riff and Swanz debuted as individual performers that same year in a live Brunei Hip Hop event called ‘Beat Culture’ organized by Kaleidoscope Studio.
Since Riff & Swanz started collaborating to deliver the full-length album, Under Control, they’ve been known by their peers to be consistent and resilient despite the dire pandemic and the lack of a strong music industry in Brunei. Both Riff & Swanz share a mutual vision and objective to bridge the scene in Brunei with the music industry in South East Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia as these countries share the same native language that is Malay.
